Sherman Phoenix is a proud member of the Rising Tide Capital network.
The Community Business Academy offers entrepreneurs a 13-week experiential learning opportunity to grow professionally, personally, and with a community of like-minded entrepreneurs.
We provide hands-on business training in planning, financials and management, with curriculum and coaching tailored to minority entrepreneurs. This 12-week program is designed for new and growing for-profit businesses.

Phoenix Rising is an inclusive entrepreneur ecosystem within a community of care and collaboration. Our Mission is to create pathways that increase opportunities for small business success.
Every applicant accepted into the Community Business Academy receives a full tuition waiver worth $3,000 thanks to the generosity of our funding partners. Our students' only responsibility is a nominal materials fee and dedication to the program.
Time
Total time commitment: 60 hours
- Weekly Class: 3 hours a week -
- Business work: 2 hours a week -
- Program length: 12 weeks -
Commitment
We expect participants to attend all classes (we allow one absence) and turn in all assignments.
Materials Fee
The course is valued at $3,000, and we ask participants to only cover the cost of materials at $50.
